We’ve done this trip a lot and find it’s nice to have a car on the North Fork. The best way we’ve found to get there is to:
It will be possible to do without a car for the weekend by taking the Hampton Jitney or LIRR all the way to Greenport Station and staying at a hotel in the downtown area within walking distance.
We’re planning to have a shuttle from Greenport to and from the reception. There are plenty of places to hang out within walking distance from Greenport or you can find a ride with a friend to explore the North Fork.
For those coming from Canada:
It’s possible to drive either to New London, CT and follow the instructions above to take the ferry to Long Island, or you can drive through the New York City area and take the scenic route along Long Island.
You can also fly into either JFK or Laguardia airport and rent a car to drive the 2 hours to Greenport. If you’re flying into JFK but want to avoid driving in NYC traffic:
